Big Campground Proposed for Shediac
Article taken from Times & Transcript Wednesday January 22, 2014
In this article, Victor Boudreau and his fellow camping buddy, Mike Boudreau are starting from scratch building a campground. The two men hope to achieve an eighty acre campground with seven hundred and fifty possible camping spots within it. Victor and Mike hope to reach a four star rating out of five, that most hotels would envy. Most people are thrilled with the idea, but there are some raising concerns with the locals. Some of the concerns include: light pollution, increased road traffic, fencing, and popular walking trails being interrupted. According to Mike and Victor the development will provide accommodations to make sure the camp does not harm any land surrounding, and "work with the town" to do what is required.
Some of the services expected to be offered will be cable television, internet service, abundant play areas, a pool, and splash area for guests. The campground will be near Parlee Beach and attract many new travellers and beach goers. According to the article, if all goes will, the camp could be open for the season of 2015. Overall, I believe this would be a great addition in New Brunswick; the camp will attract tourists, and bringing money to the province.
Personally, I think it's a great idea! it would help shediac increase there tourist population in the summer months and give jobs to the locals.
ReplyDeleteHello Tristen and All,
DeleteI am not sure if you folks are aware of the statistics of a tourist count in Shediac in the summer, but it is astronomical already! Shediac is a booming town in the summer and dies in the winter to nearly a ghost town. I love love love the proposed idea for a new campground with such sophistication. It's just too bad it can only be used for about 4 months out of the year. Either way, we'll take the revenue that would come from these fine campers :)
I think it is a very good idea as well! Jobs are so sparse in New Brunswick right now; this is an excellent way to create jobs and increase tourism which will also benefit all the other businesses in the surrounding area! The concerns that locals are coming up with are very small issues that will not have a large negative impact. It seems that this decision is going to be very beneficial for Shediac!
ReplyDeleteI really think this would be an awesome idea! it would definitely create jobs for the people of New Brunswick, and being a camping ground it would get tourists and families out and spending time together. These two men are starting from scratch trying to build business, and in doing so, it might entice others to possibly start up there own little businesses, that could potentially grow to something bigger.
